Carnegie Workshops The Devon Heartlands Community Partnership is one of seven partners undertaking a Rural Action Research Project (RARP) for the Carnegie UK Trust on the Theme of Engaging Rural Communities in ongoing Community Planning. Devon Heartlands are a Community Planning group building on the work of the Okehampton and Area MCTi programme. Now continuing to work with the local community and a variety of key partners including the West Devon Local Strategic Partnership, Devon County Council, the Market and Coastal Towns Association and many other key organisations the RARP is making good progress. To advance the work in The Devon Towns Forum who are also RARP partners agreed to fund a series of Workshops for the LSP Group and others to work out local issues that could then be shared with others across the County and beyond. The first Workshop was held on the 12 March and the second with over twenty people took place on the 3 April 2007. The DTF are also willing to fund a dissemination event later in the year and are hoping to work with the Devon Strategic Partnership to support their work on the Devon Local Area Agreements priority for Stronger Communities and the creation of a comprehensive Community Planning Database. Working alongside the Community Council of Devon and in close partnership with the MCTA and the South West Acre Network the RARP is able to reflect and hopefully influence Community Planning and Engagement at the Local, District, County and Regional Level. Devon Heartlands manager Ewen Rae said ' We see this as an opportunity for everyone involved in Community Planning to really work together and see some excellent solutions put in place that will actually assist and support meaningful grass roots Community Engagement' If you want to know more about the Devon Heartlands RARP, or would like to contribute your experience we would be delighted to hear from you. All contact details and documents relating to the Carnegie Action research are regularly posted on this website with progress reports also posted on the Carnegie UK Trust website.
